Potatoes are my favorite food group, and I love everything potatoes can make, so naturally, it was on my bucket list to stay at the Big Idaho Potato Hotel Airbnb in Boise, Idaho! This Big Idaho Potato Hotel was a unique experience; I mean, what could be better than staying inside a giant potato?
I rented a car since the Airbnb is about 25-30 minutes away from downtown Boise, but it was so worth it! The driving was easy, and as soon as I crossed the railroad tracks, there it was – a giant potato in the middle of nowhere! There was plenty of parking in the front and a very easy entrance through a fence. As soon as you get into the potato, you’re immediately charmed by its unique appearance, and I couldn’t stop looking at the little details the host put inside.
The interior was surprisingly spacious and very well decorated. It had one cozy bed, two comfortable seats, and charming potato-themed decor that made me feel right at home. The simple yet stylish furnishings complemented the unique setting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Although the bathroom is separate from the potato, it wasn’t a far walk, and I never had a problem with it, even going in November. The bathroom silo was a stand-out in itself, though! Despite being away from the house, the shower was modern and luxurious, with excellent water pressure and ample space to unwind after a day of exploring Boise. They also had a bathtub right in the middle of the silo with a heater fireplace that truly warmed up the whole bathroom. The host had left robes and water sandals, which were cute and functional. The attention to detail in the design and functionality of the shower was impressive, and the whole bathroom experience left me feeling like I was in a spa.
One of the other cool things about this Airbnb was Dolly the cow, who greeted me every morning and when I would come back from exploring. Dolly roams the property, and you can feed her if she has treats!
Staying in a giant potato might sound quirky, but it was one of the coziest and truly one-of-a-kind experiences I’ve had. The thick walls kept the interior cool during the day and warm at night. The soft lighting and thoughtful decor made it easy to relax after a day of exploring.
While the Potato Airbnb itself was a highlight and one of the reasons I went to Idaho, I also took the opportunity to explore Boise. The city offers a mix of cultural attractions, outdoor activities, and delicious gluten-free dining options. However, each evening, I looked forward to returning to my cozy potato Airbnb!
